THE PATTERN ROUND UP // TPC1

ABOUT TPC1 //

TPC1 was the pattern that started it all and little did we know that when we designed a top with statement sleeves back in AW16 that they would have a huge come back in 2021. Although saying that maybe we could because that’s fashion for you!

As the pattern was the sewing worlds introduction to the Trend Patterns brand we wanted our debut pattern to have a statement feature in the sleeve and silhouette without having an overwhelming impact so the customer (that’s you guys). It’s our signature and we wanted you to know to always expect something a little different as the brand grew.

INSPIRATION //

As with all our patterns, the inspiration comes from designer looks from Fashion Weeks across the globe as well as looking at the key trend breakdowns that follow from leading reviews magazines. Around the 2016 seasons big sleeves became a “big” thing again.

We were very inspired by styles that had a side gusset feature, and decided to carry that into this pattern to make sure the fit was flattering for any shape body and also that the silhouette was clean in the fit and had a full, curved voluminous sleeve.

From London to Paris, there wasn’t a runway show that didn’t feature some statement sleeves, here are a few of our favourites:

TEHCNICAL //

TCP1 is the perfect blank canvas for any wardrobe and can even look like a whole new garment depending on which fabric you choose. As well as this, a simple lengthening of the bodice and you have an on trend midi dress with statement sleeves in next to no time.

YOUR MAKES //

TC1 is a super versatile pattern and so it’s no surprise there are so many variations out there in the sewing community, here are just a few of our favourites:
