Ruffles from last season are still here to stay! (see our Basics Frilled hem top from last season)

This season they were all over tops and dresses (as before), in soft romantic fabrics - see Rodarte - to more heavy fabrics making the volume really stand out - see Delpozo. Although a gathered ruffle was still seen, this season was much more about a flounce - cut in more of a circular shape so the inner edge is shorter than the outer to create the flowing volume without the need for gathers.

Although I love the flounces and ruffles on dresses - especially the lovely yellow Bora Aksu ones - I have to say, I am completely besotted with the idea of the using flounces and ruffles on trousers this season. Firstly with a lovely huge voluminous flare - tight to the knee the full volume below - see Henry Holland, Marques'Almeida and Beaufille. But also using them down the side of the leg - see 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marques'Almeida and Paula Knorr.

SO many ideas here! We've got a lot to think about here at Trend Patterns HQ!
